Spadea Y-3089 Sophisticated Wiggle Dress / ca. 1962

Friday at last!  Three days without a 4 a.m. alarm going off.  Oh - unless you have a cat that depends on it going off and they jump on the bed and "bark" (Tobey has a very odd almost barking sound when he is especially agitated) at you about 4:30 to let you know you missed getting up.  "Mom, Mom, Dad, Dad! Wake up the alarm didn't go off! My breakfast is late!" - Sigh.  A loudly yelled "Quit!" and the sound of a cat running quickly down the hall is heard.  Ahhhhh silence.  He means well - grin.

Tonite for dinner - Bok Choy of some kind.  We have a big steel wok - just like they use in the authentic Asian restaurants and it makes fabulous stir fry.  Set out some thin sliced beef and now need to find a recipe.

The heat is here at last.  It hit 111 yesterday and at 10:30 a.m. it is now 104.  Summer at last.  In less than a month if this keeps up the river will be ready for swimming.

Are any of you interested in Pinterest?  I have started putting pictures up to preserve them on the internet.  Once I sell a pattern I delete it from my site and the picture isn't available.  With rare stuff that is disappointing but I only have so much room.  Pinterest allows the picture to last forever so that people can enjoy these awesome fashions.  I am of course signed up as Out of the Ashes Collectibles

The sixties' at its finest - Spadea Y-3089 Sophisticated Wiggle Dress / ca. 1962.  A bit of a "Marilyn" look to this tight dress and the collar is to die for.  It's been a while since I've found some good and unused Spadea patterns.

What a change from the early 60's to early 70's!  Simplicity 5970 Fashionable Hostess Jumpsuit & Vest 1973  - the wide "palazzo" style legs are classic.  If you are interested in the Simplicity Look Slimmer Patterns that have a slenderizing style click on the link.

This "pantsuit" pattern reminds me so much of Laura Bush.  The skirt is very nice too but a very complimentary jacket - Simplicity 6175 Career Maker Jacket, Skirt & Pants 1973

I have it in two sizes - Size 14 and Size 18.

The McCall's version of Look Slimmer patterns are the Pounds Thinner Patterns.  Great looking bodice on this McCall's 3005 Eye Pleasing Dress or Tunic & Pants 1971

Just a good all around, anytime or anywhere, work or play:  McCall's 4587 Shirt-Jacket or Shirt, Top, Skirt & Pants 1975.  I have two with sizes 12 to 20.

I know this is a plain ole' summer pullover but it's also dang cute.  I think the fact that it's now 110 degrees outside and I am staring at this sleeveless dress with pretty pastel flowers has something to do with the fascination - grin:  Simplicity 5114 Sugar & Spice Sundress 1981

Good cooking efforts this week.  Too much Cooking Channel.  The best was Orzo, Feta, Basil & Shrimp that melts in your mouth.  Then a delicious and unique Greek Taco dinner!  Lucky me to have great leftovers tonite.  Sure wish I hadn't discovered the Cooking Channel.  Sigh -

On to patterns!  A pretty beauty that I've had before and worth mention again:  Advance 5180 Sizzling Scalloped Sun Dress & Bolero

A sweet little summer outfit.

Nothing mad about this Mad Men beauty.  Spadea A-2188 Youthful & Flattering Dress 1962

Vogue 1070 Fashion Diva Coat, Skirt & Tunic Blouse 1961

Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial weekend.  I spent alot of time thinking about all our heroes past and present.  God Bless them all.  Without them we wouldn't be free.

Tuesday and Wednesday were busy packing days.  Alot of sale orders to get out for sure - thank you all.

Wednesday night my husband and I participated in an online cooking class with Chef Robert Irvine (Restaurant and Dinner Impossible).  We had all the ingredients prepped and ready but even so it was a train wreck - food flying everywhere and us laughing hysterically trying to figure out where we went wrong when the online media would stall and we'd be a step behind.  Oh my gosh it was so fun.  There was a running live blog too and the comments had us hooting in laughter.  This is the first time he has done this online and he said he learned alot - I'm sure he did.  We did too!  Can't wait for the next class.  We made a pork tenderloin with a sauce on it which was fabulous but  my favorite dish was the shrimp and polenta.  I had never made polenta before and it was delicious - we added spinach and spices, along with white balsamic.  We plated the polenta, topped with the grilled shrimp, and then topped with a "salsa" consisting of sauteed red onions and strawberries.  It was amazing!  Here is a link to the recipes we did:  Robert Irvine Recipes

The most noteworthy pattern listed this week (only listed yesterday and today) is this Vogue 1070 Fashion Diva Coat, Skirt & Tunic Blouse 1961 which I got in the mail from my sister the other day.  She found it at a yard sale!  It's extremely rare and uncut and it also has the original label.  Thanks sissy!

My next favorite went in today - Mail Order 2294 Irresistible Dress with "Button" Bodice / ca. 1940's and I have two of them.  The first is in Factory Folds the other was used and has mild wear but entirely useable.  That "button" bodice is so very pretty.  I like the idea of a contrast fabric too.  Really sets it off.

Back to the 70's with this sassy party dress - McCall's 3213 Flirty Party Dress 1972 and of course the bottom ruffle is a must.

I've had this one in my "to check" bin for a while and finally confirmed that it is complete:  Advance 8710 Smashing Two-Piece Dress / ca. 1958 with a most becoming blouson look.

The ultimate 70's Hostess Award goes to:  Simplicity 6020 Dazzling Wrap Blouse & Palazzo Pants & Skirt 1973.  Skip the skirt and head straight to those wide legged pants!  Two sizes available!

Time for a sale!  I've been a slacker with doing my blogs and I apologize.  Fresh start after the holiday weekend.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND SALE STARTS NOW!

20% OFF ALL ORDERS.  Use coupon code HONORING during checkout to get your discount.

Memorial Day is a very special day to remember and honor all those who have given their lives in defense of our country.  No greater sacrifice can be made.  God Bless all of our troops past and present who have not only served but given their lives.

The picture I have used is of the Meuse Argonne Cemetary in France.  It is where my grandfather was buried after WWI - his name was Richard Warren Strong.  He died before my mother was born.

Hollywood 1107 Dishy Jumper, Shorts & Blouse / ca. 1943

The two new kitties are doing great!  However - Tobey the 11 month old is a leopard.  Lean and so very active.  Olive is like a beach ball with four tiny legs and getting her to move is impossible.  She plays like a "lady" - batting daintily at a dangled toy.  The word "run" is not in her vocabulary.   I have always free fed my cats and never had an overeater.  Until now.  Tobey needs all the food he can eat because he's young and races and plays almost constantly.  How do I balance their eating?  Oh did I forget to mention that if the crunchy food bowl gets low or out they both yowl like they are dying even if it's in the middle of the night? Help.

Always happy to find a Hollywood pattern.  Oddly this is one I had in 2011.  What are the odds?  Hollywood 1107 Dishy Jumper, Shorts & Blouse / ca. 1943

This pattern made me giggle.   It looks kind of "clownish" - McCall's 8665 "Edwardian" Jacket, Pants & Blouse 1967.  However I swear I had this outfit in high school.  I saw on the Vintage Pattern Wiki that this was one of McCall's patterns they put into a store catalog booklet and it actually used the term "Edwardian."  I have two different normal sizes of this one.

The perfect summer dress - McCall's 8951 Seven Panel Princess Dress 1967 and as with the former pattern I have two sizes.

The perfect summer evening dress - Simplicity 6099 Flirtatious Front Wrap Dress 1973 and .... wait for it!  Two sizes available.

Looking for a pair of hippie pants?  Look no more - McCall's 2672 Hippie Swinger's Set of Pants 1970

In a weird mood today - some of these patterns are crackin' me up.  This next one makes me think of a Sonny Bono meets Tom Jones outfit.  McCall's 2687 Men's Groovy Faux Fur Vest & Pants 1970.

This is one from Tuesday and though it's been cut it's a rare one.  I have become a "pattern snob" hating to list anything from the mid-60's thru the 1970's if it has been used.  I see so many used ones that it's more trouble than it's usually worth.  But sometimes ones catches my eye and this one did.  It's a rare one too so if you have been looking for it most of your life grab it now!  McCall's 8898 True Fashionista Dress 1967

Oh my gosh did guys really wear these?  Simplicity 5376 Men's Super Cool Jumpsuit 1972

Remember those Granny Dresses we used to wear in the seventies?  Simplicity 9835 Flower Power Hippie Dress 1971

Now I really dig this one - a long vest looks so great:  Simplicity 5186 In the Groove Mini-Dress, Vest & Pants 1972 and lucky to have two sizes.

Rare & sought after pattern:  Vogue 9254 Oversized Hobo Handbags 1970's.  Okay it's a neat handbag but WTHeck?

Simplicity 3739 Femme Fatale Petticoat & Slip / ca. 1951

Looks like summer is here - hope for a break to go back to the 90's so we can do some off roading in our Prowler before the 100+++ sets in for 3 to 4 months consistently.  It's 92 right now and only 9:49 a.m.  Time to start living like a mole - all the doors and windows shut and shuttered to keep that blazing sunlight out.  I keep one kitchen curtain open slightly just so the kitties can peek outside and see all the front yard action.  They can pop behind the drapes in the bedroom to see what's up out back too.  I thought when we moved here that I would refuse to live in the dark during the summer.  Hah!  There's a reason to live like a mole for summer months.

A couple of giggles for the day.  A friend forwarded a link to me and the guy who did it had a bunch on YouTube.  These two are the best and had me cracking up - a little bit of salty language but still very funny and most words are bleeped out anyway:

 The Truth About the Tarsier

 The Truth About the Sloth

Now back to patterns!  Simplicity 3739 Femme Fatale Petticoat & Slip / ca. 1951 - takes my breath away.  And though the envelope took a beating the pattern itself is uncut and factory folded.  Yay!

Love this one with the long or short skirt that goes over the "romper" jumpsuit.  McCall's 2974 Kitschy Jumpsuit & Skirt 1971

The offset fastening of this McCall's 4766 Edgy Dress or Top & Pants 1975 makes it very eye catching.

Very classy fashion here - what I would call a "sheath" dress - McCall's 9096 Fantastic Five Panel Dress 1967

Oh what a summer delight  this one is - luckily I have in two different sizes:  Simplicity 6982 Bella Back Wrap Dress 1975

On the run today so no "new" featured patterns but check out what I put in - a really nice Vogue and some other 80's that really stand out.

Simplicity 9515 Super Set of Skirts with Pizazz! 1971

No listing today but will put a bunch in tomorrow.  I am scanning like a maniac even though I have a ton already done.  My motto is trying to be up to date.  When I acquire patterns I immediately scan them if I don't already have a picture in my achieve.  I got almost 200 late last week so I'm working away.  Alot more 70's and newer too.

For the "laugh of a day" check out this video of a dog begging for a kitten - so clever!

Featured vintage is this flared bottom Simplicity 9515 Super Set of Skirts with Pizazz! 1971

I come from the "granny dress" era and the 70's patterns I acquired recently have a bunch of them that call to mind some of the dresses I used to wear.  Ahhh that walk down memory lane:  McCall's 3049 Groovy Granny Dress, Jumpsuit & Pinafore 1971

A rather rare pattern - sadly it's a junior miss size but if you are small then lucky you!  Simplicity 6658 Slinky Halter Dress & Jacket 1974

Add a little bling and voila - day turns into night.  McCall's 3421 Glitzy Long Waisted Dress 1972

Quite a number of men's patterns from the 70's lots.  Oh my gosh some are hysterical.  This one is quite useful and frankly could double as a woman's top too IMO.  McCall's 2826 Men's Dashiki Shirt 1971

So very sweet!  Simplicity 9769 Endearing Dress & Pinafore 1971

Summertime cries out for tennis lessons doesn't it???? Simplicity 5572 Sporty Tennis Dress, Panties & Visor 1973

Super sweet looking dress with an almost "schoolmarm" neckline - Simplicity 5159 Dainty Dress with Detachable Collar & Cuffs 1972

Very guruesque outfit with this Simplicity 9961 Asian Inspiried Tunic & Pants 1972

This one is so very inspiring to me.  Love the trim!  Simplicity 9990 Swell Dress with Trim Interests 1972
